Another area of work of GRT/ UNA is child protection. It means to become active through development projects as a response to situations where the rights of children and young adults are in danger of being violated, are or have been violated according to the international child rights convention.
For instance, in Somalia or Kenya -like in many other countries- orphans, street kids or children with disabilities belong to the group of the most vulnerable ones. They are more often than not living in situations whereby no parent is present to protect or even to advance their rights – thus they are in danger of or suffer from experiencing physical violence, do not have access to education or health services.
With our action, we are aiming at strengthening local non-governmental organizations to protect and advance the rights of those children through activities such as education, social work and awareness raising.
