PROJECTS : AGRICULTURE AND FOOD SECURITY

OVERVIEW

Agriculture in Africa is the primary sector supporting the population and providing a source of revenues for the majority of people. Hence, food security is a strictly correlated concept which has recently come at the top of the international political agenda.

Indeed, food security is conceived a state of assuring physical availability and economic accessibility to enough food (in an environmentally and socially sustainable manner) in terms of quantity, quality and cultural acceptability for all people at all times for a healthy and active life.

This means that food should be enough but should also be produced according to come cultural criteria and some environmental requirements.

In this project, the identification of the cassava has been the outcome of a long process carried out with the local communities and stakeholders. It aims to enhance the production of it through involvement of local beneficiaries and through the improvement of farming practices.
