OVERVIEW

UNA is a permanent consortium of four Italian non-governmental organisations, which have been working together for more than fifteen years. The Regional office for Eastern Africa is located in Nairobi, Kenya, from where UNA manages all projects in the region. The partners NGOs have projects in four countries: Kenya, Somalia, Sudan, and Tanzania.

The core sectors of our activities are: urban development, agriculture, water and sanitation, and mental health. Indeed, UNA approach is ‘multi-sectorial’, benefiting from an extended experience gained in the cooperation field over the years and in many countries.

Each intervention of our partners is based on a participatory approach, which focuses on the involvement of the beneficiaries throughout the whole project process. This ensures that each intervention addresses the real needs of the communities, enhancing as much as possible the project sustainability.

UNA’ interventions are mainly supported by the following donors:

  1. Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE)
  2. European Union
  3. World Food Programme
  4. Food and Agriculture Organisation
  5. UNICEF,
  6. UNDP
  7. Private Foundations, Institutions, as well as private citizens

MISSION

UNA aims at:

  • to avoid duplication of interventions
